John Glass MS, C.T.R.S.
John offers individual, group, and family therapeutic sessions utilizing the art of play to lift self-esteem, improve social skills, and to help with the management of aggressive, disruptive behavior. Play is the universal language of children of all ages. Since the beginning of time children have learned to cooperate, socialize, abide by rules, become a part of a team, felt good about themselves and others, and had fun through play. Children use play to communicate, explore, make decisions, compromise, and grow.
Noted mental health expert, Albert E. Trischman says in his book the The Other 23 Hours, “Skilled clinicians think that activity programs are meaningful and a necessary part of a child’s treatment. Many projecting problems, such as poor peer relations, aggressive outbursts, and low self-images can often be treated better in the context of an activity than a 50 minute office interview.”
Everyone can do at least one or two things well. It’s a matter of helping children locate their talents. Children will be interviewed and assessed to determine their interests, motivation, and attitudes. A plan will be developed and implemented to meet the child’s goals and objectives.
John has worked with children of all ages for over 30 years. He’s coordinated youth sports and special events in community parks and recreation, coached middle school basketball, and girl’s softball. John has spent the last 21 plus years at the Sacramento Children’s Home as their Recreation Program Manager helping literally thousands of damaged children lift their self-esteem, improve their social skills, and control their anger and frustration through the use of therapeutic play, fun, and interactive games and activities.
